Dr. Kurt J. Lauk
Dr. Kurt J. Lauk is is president of Globe Capital Partners. He
is the National Chairman of the Economic Council of the Christian
Democratic Party in Germany. He serves as a Chairman or Board
Member on several supervisory boards.
Dr. Lauk was a Member of the Board of Management of DaimlerChrysler
from 1996 to 1999. Later, he was a member of the Chairman Integration
Council and served as head of the commercial vehicle division
at Daimler-Benz AG and Mercedes-Benz AG. Prior to DaimlerChrysler,
he was a Member of the Board of management of VEBA, AG (today
EON), Germany's largest conglomerate. From 1992 to 1996, Dr. Lauk
held the position of Chief Financial Officer and Chief Controller
of EON (formerly VEBA AG).
From 1982 to 1992, Dr. Lauk was Deputy Chairman and Chief Financial
Officer of Audi AG, with additional full responsibility in marketing
(1982-1992). Before that, he was President of Zinser Textilmaschinen
GmbH, a pioneer developer and leading supplier of machines for
textile mills (1984-1989). From 1978 to 1984, Dr. Lauk served
as Vice President and Director of The Boston Consulting Group
Inc., in Munich and Boston, respectively.
Dr. Lauk is President of the renowned German-French Institute
in Ludwigsburg, Germany and is a non-Executive Director of the
International Institute of Strategic Studies (IISS) based in London.
Dr. Lauk teaches business strategy and finance at the prestigious
European Business School in Reichartshausen/Eltville. He was also
a lecturer in Global Management at the Stanford University Graduate
School of Business in California, U.S.A., where he served full-time
from February-August 2000. From 1992 to 2002, he served on the
Stanford Business School Dean's Advisory Council. Dr. Lauk has
also served on several commissions both on the federal and state
level in Germany.
Dr. Lauk is a native of Stuttgart, Germany. He earned his Ph.D.
in Political Science from the University of Kiel in Germany. He
holds an MA in History and Theology from the University of Munich,
Germany and received his MBA from the Stanford University Graduate
School of Business, California in 1977.
William C.Y. Lee, Ph.D.
Dr. William C.Y. Lee serves as chairman of LinkAir Communications,
Inc., the developer of LAS-CDMA-a new patented technology for
wireless telecommunication systems that significantly increases
network capacity and improves quality of service and network coverage.
Dr. Lee is renowned for his leading contributions in making analog
and CDMA technologies commercially viable. He holds more than
27 US patents, with 11 more pending.
For 15 years, Dr. Lee was one of a team of pioneers in developing
advanced wireless technology-AMPS-for Bell Labs. He then joined
the ITT Defense Communications Division, where he headed the advanced
mobile communications system. He was Vice President and Chief
Scientist during his subsequent tenure with Vodafone Airtouch-one
of the largest wireless carriers in the World, providing service
to nearly 50 million subscribers-Dr. Lee assisted in CDMA research
and the initial trial of the technology. The pioneer in personal
communications network (PCN) technology, Dr. Lee led PacTel's
PCS experimental trial, and under his leadership, the first CDMA
phone call was completed in Los Angeles in 1995.
Dr. Lee has been selected as an IEEE Fellow and has served as
a member of numerous Councils, including the California State
Council on Science and Technology, the US Council on Competitiveness,
and was a former member of the FCC Technical Advisory Council
from 1999-2001. He has earned many prestigious industry awards,
including the IEEE VTS Avant Garde Award, the CTIA Award, the
CDMA Industry Achievement Award, the SATEC Award, a Bell Lab Award
and, most recently, the IEEE Third Millennium Medal Award. In
2001, Dr. Lee received the Telecommunication Achievement award
from Chinese Historical Society of America and the Stuart Meyer
Memorial award from IEEE Vehicular Technology Society.
Dr. Lee earned his Ph.D. in electrical engineering from Ohio
State University.
Dr. Leonard Liu
Dr. Leonard Liu has played a global role in the computing industry
almost from its inception. Currently, Dr. Liu is CEO and Chairman
for Augmentum, providing software development outsourcing services.
Most recently, he served as President of ASE Group, previously
having held roles as President of Acer Group, Chairman and CEO
of Walker Interactive Systems, and COO of Cadence Design Systems.
Dr. Liu began his career in 1968 as a new PhD at IBM’s Thomas
J. Watson Laboratories. In his 20 years at IBM, he managed –
among other businesses - the creation of SQL, AIX and the development
of the predecessor to RS/6000.
Doris Yee
Doris Yee has over fifteen years of experience in investments
and engineering. Prior to joining iGlobe Investment, Ms. Yee was
with the Government of Singapore's National Science and Technology
Board (NSTB) for eight years. In her last position with NTSB,
Ms. Yee was concurrently Senior Manager in the CIO Office and
the New Business Division.
Ms. Yee coordinated the establishment of the New Business Division
and led the Division's direct equity investment activities in
IT, electronics and telecommunications companies. She pioneered
the Venture Incentive Scheme for Startups (VISS), a co-investment
scheme catalyzing the formation and development of technology
enterprises in Singapore. Ms. Yee also spearheaded NSTB's efforts
to promote R&D investments in the electronics and Info-communications
industries. In this role, she managed NSTB's relationships with
key US, Japanese and local companies advising on establishment
of R&D centers, evaluating proposals and recommending government
support. In addition, Ms. Yee initiated and designed the Research
Incentive Scheme for Companies (RISC) that resulted in R&D
commitments by private enterprises exceeding US$1 billion from
1993 to 1999.
Before the NTSB, Ms. Yee was a Development Engineer with Chartered
Electronics Industries (a member of the Singapore Technologies
Group), and a Software Engineer at Telerate, a US financial data
services company.
Ms. Yee earned her Bachelor of Engineering Degree and MBA from
the National University of Singapore.
Frank Lee
Mr. Frank Lee is a Vice President at UMC Capital where he focuses on making investments
in the semiconductors, communications and wireless industries. He currently serves as a director at Qsecure.
Prior to UMC Capital, Frank was a Vice President at Vertex Management Inc, a Singapore based venture firm.
At Vertex, Frank was responsible for investments in Transmedia (Cisco), Teralogic (Zoran), Endwave (NASD: ENWV),
Metrika (Bayer) and Ubicom.
Previously, he was a management consultant at AT Kearney. Frank earned
an M.B.A. from the Kellogg Graduate School of Management at Northwestern University
and a B.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering from San Jose Sate University.
Paul
Huang
Paul Huang has served as the Chief Executive Officer and Chairman
of the Board of ForteMedia, Inc. since August 2000. Paul was the
co-founder of Cadence Design Systems, and is the recipient of
the prestigious Phil Kaufman award for 2000. Paul currently also
serves as a director of several EDA companies. From April 1998
to July 2000, he served as Chief Executive Officer and Chairman
of the board of Novas Software, Inc., a Logic Debugging company.
Prior to that, he served as Executive Vice President, Product
Development and as a director of Quickturn Design systems, Inc.,
and President of PiE Design, a company he co-founded in 1990.
From August 1982 to January 1990, he served as Executive Vice
President of Research and Development at Cadence.
Tom Hsia
Tom Hsia is currently the Chief Operating Officer of Fortemedia.
Tom has a long legacy in the PC business. Prior to founding Fortemedia
in 1996, Tom was the Chief System Architect at PC-tel, the first
software modem company. Before that, he led several software development
teams at Opti, MediaChip, Everex, and Aspen Engineering, which
he co-founded. There, he developed a logic synthesis tool which
was sold to Arche and to Viewlogic.
