Fortemedia’s small array microphone (sam), featuring always-on capability with extremely low standby current to save power, is best suited to portable and mobile application for its ultra-small footprint. It can always stay turned-on to monitor environment noise with low power consumption and wake up the system with pre-programmed command.

FL204

General Description:
Fortemedia’s FL204 is a Delta-Sigma ADC used in conjunction with MEMS digital microphones. It converts the sensor’s output signal into a PDM bit stream. The digital output format eliminates the need for an AC-couples capacitor, reduces the RF noise, and simplifies the layout. The FL204 can be used to form a dual microphone array or stereo microphone based on a single data line with the CS (channel select) pin. Speech quality can be significantly improved by combining two FL204 embedded microphones with Fortemedia’s SAMSoft® technology.

Features:

  • Ultra-low input capacitance CMOS preamplifier
  • Integrated charge pump for MEMS microphone biasing
  • Built-in modulators with 1-bit PDM digital output
  • Reduced components and layout
  • Immune to RF buzz noise
  • Wide power supply range from 1.6V – 3.6V (3.3V typical)
  • Input clock rate: 1.024 to 3.25MHz (2.048MHz typical)
  • Low standby current

FL205

General Description: FL205 is a high-performance digital MEMS Microphone IC. It consists of an amplifier, output buffer and a low noise charge pump with built-in reference to bias MEMS microphone sensor. It also has E-Fuse to trim TF gain and charge pump output voltage VPUMP to program the output to a desired sensitivity. The IC can amplify incoming signal in order to produce a desired output within a certain precision.

FL205 is offered in a small die size to take minimum space on a PCB for the smallest package size.

Features:
  • High performance SNR
  • E-Fuse trimming to match -26 dBFS output
  • Multiple Operation Mode
  • E-Fuse trimming to match transfer function (TF) and VPUMP for MEMS sensor sensitivity to +/- 1dB
  • Ultralow input capacitance CMOS preamplifier
  • Integrated charge pump for MEMS microphone biasing
  • Internal RF filtering cap at VDD for better RF immunity
  • Wide power supply ranges from 1.8V-3.6V

iM205

General Description:
iM205 is a Delta-Sigma ADC used in conjunction with MEMS digital microphones. It converts sensor’s output signal into a PDM formatted bit-stream. The digital output format saves the AC coupled capacitor, reduces the RF noise and eases the layout requirement.

iM205 has both Standard Digital Microphone footprint and the new Smart Microphone footprint. I2C is available in both footprints. iM205 can support up to multiple I2C addresses. In other words, an array of multiple iM205 microphones can be controlled and used by the same host via I2C to form an array microphone with wake-up function for the lowest power operation.

Features:

  • High performance SNR with DNF = -92 dBFS(A)
  • Support two footprints: Standard Digital Microphone and Smart Microphone
  • Multi-power modes: Normal full power mode; Low power mode; I2C power down mode; Sleep mode; Trigger mode and Power down mode
  • e-Fuse trimming to match transfer function (TF) for MEMS sensor sensitivity to +/- 1dB
  • Analog Voice Detection (AVD) for low power always on and wake up function support
  • Support ultrasonic application with CLK up to 4.8MHz
  • Programmability of power mode, transfer function, current consumption, SNR through I2C interface
  • High AOP support via I2C and SW Control
  • Ultralow input capacitance CMOS preamplifier
  • Integrated charge pump for MEMS microphone biasing
  • Reduced components and layout
  • Wide power supply range from 1.6V to 3.6V (1.8V typical)
